Advocate: I survived conversion therapy. Now it's coming back in softer words
In this op-ed for The Advocate, I dive into the dangerous "rebrand" of conversion therapy. While the world's largest networks have closed their doors, the ideology has evolved into "pastoral care" and "discipleship" programs that use softer words to inflict the same old harm. Drawing on my own eight-year journey and the latest data from The Trevor Project, I argue that this isn't a matter of religious liberty—it’s a matter of survival. We have to stop mistaking harm for help and start recognizing that for LGBTQ+ youth, affirmation isn't just a preference; it’s what keeps them alive.
